4B2N 2016 Round Up

It has been a while since our last post. Many things had happened , projects comes and done. As we are preparing for our much awaited year end road trip, let us round up 2016 for 4x4back2nature Singapore.

Our previous project #TBK8815 was back in the workshop. Before I explained why let me run through the specs and design of the suspension by TBK Offroad Performance . For the rear the Toyota 9.5" axle differential is used, ARB Air Locker, Nitro Gear 5.29 R&P, Nitro Gear chromoly full float axle shafts. Thats on the differentials side , suspension wise dual triangulated 4 Link suspension supporting a pair monstrous Fox 3.0 remote reservoir coil-over. Fox 2.0 x 4" Bump Stop. 7075 rods are used for the links with Trail-Gear's chromoly rod ends.

At the front, Trail-Gear full hydraulic steering system driving the Toyota 8" high pinion axle. The previously Longfield axle inners for FJ80 Landcruiser before they are bought over by Trail-Gear. Like the rear, the front also features a dual triangulated 4 link suspension, and held by another pair of 3.0 Fox Racing Shocks. This 4x4 runs on a 40" Maxxis Trepador driven by Nitro Gear 5.29 ring and pinions.

Now where is the weak links on this suspension setup? Well #TBK8815 is back at TBK Offroad Performance workshop with bent axle, both front and rear. The 80 Series axle is one of the strongest axle we can get easily locally. But it is not enough for the owner who frequently involves in organizing major competition like the Malaysian Rainforest Challenge and uses it to bash through uncharted path to mark the ground for a special stage before the bulldozers goes in. Added gusset and brace the axle as much as we can without affecting the link suspension structure. Finger-crossed that it can withstand another round of beatings.

Coming next year we will organize more off the road trip for our recent projects such as the #TBK8972. Here is the brief writeup on this project : Toyota Hilux TBK8792.

Towards the end of the year you can be expecting some post on the road trip, as i try to post photos and writings on the go.
