Lake Kenyir

Located in the state of Terengganu , Malaysia is the largest man made lake in South East Asia. It is the source for the hydroelectric dam for Sultan Mahmud Power Station. Every time we visit this lake we will look for Mok Sang, who had been working as resort or boathouse operator almost his entire life in Kenyir. No pork though as he is a muslim, the food he prepared is the best and absolutely no left over during meal times. Sadly he is retiring soon.

Lake Kenyir can be considered a fishing haven, although fish seems to be less then before. Perhaps the fishes are getting smarter. Even though this place is a great place to relax and free from noise and air pollution. Traveling from Johor Bahru to the dock takes us (big tires lifted 4x4) around 10 hours.

Stargazing condition is moderate for this period of time, only 1 out of 5 days we had clear beautiful sky. However light pollution is no issue here. Milkyway season is over but we still manage to see the Orion constellation clearly.
